The default Calculator app will not start. Click, nothing. It was working earlier but not now. Nothing changed.
I have two x64 Windows 10 Pro systems -- one was running preview builds and the calculator doesn't work now that the system is upgraded to The other was a system I repaved with 8. The systems are pretty identical but, the first system is not on a domain, while the second one is on a domain. On my other system the one that works , Calc shows up in search as a "Windows Trusted App". So one the first machine where Calc fails I switched user accounts to an account my son uses, and voila -- Calc displays as a "trusted windows app" and it works.
So clearly, at least in my case, there's a problem with the applications installed on my user account. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. There are several user accounts on this machine. The account where calculator will not run is a Local User account, whereas the account that it works on is a Microsoft Account. Both are admin accounts. Like you, the account that works labels the app as "Trusted Windows Store App" and the account that doesn't work labels the app as "Windows App.
I fixed the issue on my machine by completely dropping the user account make sure the profile is gone and then recreating it. Quite a pain that these store apps just silently failed especially something as trivial as the Calculator app. One other things I notices was in the Windows Events security log, I had a really high number of "Audit Failure" entries having to do with not being able to open a key store. I think these are connected to the problems because the timing looks right and they've dramatically reduced since repaving the user account.
Add one more to the broken calculator app party. However, I did find the following information in the Events Viewer:. Activation of app Microsoft. App failed with error: The remote procedure call failed. Event ID Failure to load the application settings for package Microsoft. Error Code: 5 Event ID 10 2 lines. I've checked all three RPC and they are enabled and running. Yet the errors still persist, and the calculator won't run.

Nothing yet. In fact the problem is getting worse. Now the Windows Start menu fails to launch. Using the Windows key on the keyboard or by clicking with the mouse start menu fails to open.
I have a desktop PC running with four Microsoft accounts, it works fine everywhere else but with me. My solitaire app isn't working either. Recently, I could not get into the store either but tonight I was suddenly able to.
Really don't want to have to delete and re-create my account if I can help it. My calendar and calculator has stopped working so has the start button so I replaced it with startw8.

In reply to erikj's post on July 31, Very interesting, Erik. I'm running Win10 Pro that was upgraded from Win8. In reply to Bodash's post on August 1, Event ID Failure to load the application settings for package Microsoft.
Will be recovering back to Windows 8. In reply to Bodash's post on August 12, Another one here with a broken calculator. Anyone got any ideas? Hello All. Windows 10 is terrible!!! It takes way too long to boot up my PC. It takes way too long to empty the trash folder.
I am dying to revert back to Windows 8. Is there any way I can do that? In reply to StevensDavis's post on September 1, Calculator stopped working after upgrading to latest build. Microsoft, this problem has been out there since July and still no solution! You guys suck! This site in other languages x.
